The African Elephant, or more precisely, the African Bush Elephant is a large African mammal. It is an adoptable animal in all three Wildlife Park games.
Description[]
The African Elephant is the largest living terrestrial animal. Males, or bulls, can reach a shoulder height of 3.96m (13ft) and weigh up to 10.4 tonnes. Females, or cows, are generally smaller. The African elephant is larger than the Asian Elephant, with larger ears which they use to help keep cool and two finger-like extensions on their trunk, as opposed to the Asian elephant's one. The elephant's trunk contains over 40000 muscles and is extremely sensitive to touch, allowing it to uproot trees just as easily as picking up a blade of grass. Both males and females possess large tusks, although these grow faster in the males.
The African elephant lives across Sub-Saharan Africa in a variety of habitats, although it is typically found in wooded-savannah. Female elephants form large family-based herds lead by the oldest female, or matriarch. Males leave these herds upon adolescence and join bachelor herds, only rejoining the female herds during the breeding season. Elephants eat a variety of vegetation including grass, leaves and bark, and are known to be highly intelligent. Elephant populations have affected in the past due to poaching, although their numbers are rising.
White Elephant[]
White Elephants, also known as albino elephants, are a rare kind of elephants caused by albinism or leucism (lack of pigments). Albinism affects the hair, skin, and eye color while leucism affects the skin and hair to some extend but not the eyes. Their skin are often depicted as snow white (true albinism), but they're a soft reddish-brown or pink in reality.
Wildlife Park[]
The African Elephant is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park and is available in the base game. Their daily needs and enrichments include hay, sprout, pellets (base game only), mineral (base game only), swimming, scratching and tussling.
Wildlife Park 2[]
“ | Latin name: Loxodonta Africana. The world’s largest elephant lives in deserts and in rainforests. The African elephant has larger ears than the Indian elephant. Though the colossus is often referred to as thick-skinned, he is rather sensitive. His trunk is extremely flexible and because of this flexibility and the two fingers at the tips of his trunk, he can use it to pick up objects. The big ears are laden with blood vessels and are used to bring down the body temperature. That protects the animal from overheating in the African savannah. The species is endangered. | ” |
