The Amazonian Brown Brocket is a small South American ungulate. It is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park 3.
Description[]
The Amazonian brown brocket is a species of brocket deer, a group of ten deer species in the genus Mazama, which are all comparatively small with spike-like antlers. The largest species of brocket deer can reach a shoulder height of 80cm (31in) and weighs up to 48kg (106lbs), although the Amazonian brown brocket is typically smaller. It can be identified by its grayish-brown coat and pale underside. All brocket deer have a stout body and comparatively large ears.
Brocket deer are native to South America, with the Amazonian brown brocket being found from Panama down to Brazil. It lives in dense rainforests to evade predators and is a browser with a preference for fruit. Brocket deer typically live alone or in mated pairs and give birth to a single fawn, which have white spots to aid in camoflage. Due to their shy, nocturnal nature, little is known about the behaviour of wild brocket deer.
