The Anglerfish, specifically the Humpback Anglerfish, is a small bony fish. It is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park 2.
Description[]
The term "anglerfish" refers to any bony fish in the order Lophiiformes, of which there are eighteen families. The humpback anglerfish is a member of the black seadevil family. Females can reach lengths of over 15cm long and have dark, rounded bodies, large heads and a widened mouth, which allows it to eat prey much larger than itself. Males are significantly smaller, reaching lengths of 2.8cm or less.
The anglerfish is a deep-sea species that lives at depths of up to 100-1500m (330-4920ft) below the surface. The female is an ambush hunter, catching any fish she comes across. Like all other anglerfish, she uses a modified fin, known as the illicium, to lure prey towards her - the illicium features a luminescent organ, or esca, to attract potential prey. Little is known about the lifestyle of the male, but unlike many other species of anglerfish, he does not permanently fuse himself to the female's body, allowing him to mate with multiple females.
Wildlife Park 2[]
“ | Latin name: Melanocetus Johnsonii. The predacious anglerfish is lethargically laying on the seabed, gently wiggling his 'Angel', a modified first spine from the first dorsal fin. Any fish snapping at this bait is inevitably getting close to the mouth, which the anglerfish rapidly opens, thus sucking in its prey. | ” |
The Anglerfish is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park 2 and is available in the base game. Its daily need and enrichment necessities include fish, swimming and diving. They can live individually, with 15 as the maximum number of herd.
