The Eurasian Lynx is a mid-sized Eurasian felid. It is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park 3.

Description[]

The Eurasian lynx is the largest of four species of lynx, a group of medium-sized cats identified by their short tails, neck "ruff" and black tufts on the tips of their ears. Large males can stand 75cm (30in) at the shoulder and weigh up to 32kg (71lbs), with females being slightly smaller. It features reddish-brown fur that is replaced with a thicker, sometimes silver-grey, coat during winter. There are six recognized subspecies of Eurasian lynx, with northern subspecies tending to be paler in color than southern ones.

The Eurasian lynx has a wide range, from Central Europe to Siberia. Across its range, it often lives in forests or mountains, but typically avoids deep snow. Typically solitary, the Eurasian lynx hunts a variety of mammals and birds, and is capable of taking down prey much larger than itself, including Caribou. Although it has a wide range and is not considered threatened, habitat loss and hunting are threats to the lynx's survival.
