The Malayan Tapir is a mid-sized Asian ungulate. It is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park 3.
Description[]
The Malayan tapir is the largest species of tapir. Adults typically weigh up to 320kg (710lbs) and reach a length of 2.5m (8.2ft), with females being slightly larger. Like all tapirs, it possesses a flexible proboscis, which it will use to reach food - the Malayan tapir possesses the longest proboscis of all tapirs. It features a distinctive coloration, being mostly black except for a large white patch that extends from its shoulders to its rump. This "disruptive" coloration breaks up the tapir's outline, making it difficult for predators to recognise.
Unlike other tapirs, which are native to South America, the Malayan tapir lives in Southeast Asia. A solitary species, it lives in lowland rainforests, usually near water, and feeds on the leaves and shoots of various species of plants (over 115 species have been recorded). Female tapirs give birth to a single calf, which has a distinctive white spotted pattern on its brown body. Human activity, such as deforestation, is the main threat to Malayan tapirs.

Their daily food and enrichment necessities include leaves, fruits, mineral, water, wallowing (mud) and swimming. In terms of their environment, they prefer soft grounds like peat. They can live individually, with 8 as the maximum number of herd.
