The Rabbit, specifically the European Hare, is a small Eurasian mammal. It is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park 2.
Description[]
The European Hare, also known as the Brown Hare, is one of the largest species of hare. Closely related to rabbits, hares are larger, with longer ears and black markings on their fur. The European hare has a body length of up to 75cm (30in) and weighs up to 5kg (11lbs). Like all hares, it has long legs which serve as an adaptation for running across open ground at high speed; a hare can reach speeds of up to 70km/h (43mph).
The European hare is found across Europe as well as Asia and lives in temperate open country. It is a nocturnal animal and spends much of its time foraging for grass and herbs, whilst it rests during the day in a small depression dug into the ground. During the breeding season, hares will chase and box each other with their front paws: this generally consists of a female testing a male's stamina and has lead to the saying "Mad as a March Hare". Although populations have declined due to hunting, the European hare has a wide, abundant range.

Trivia[]
- The name in the German version is Feldhasen, meaning Hare and referring to the European Hare.
