The Saurian, more accurately the Galapagos Land Iguana, is a large South American lizard. It is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park 2.
Description[]
The Galapagos land iguana is one of three species of large inland iguanas native to the Galapagos islands, which are believed to have diverged from the better known marine iguana around 10 million years ago. One of the largest lizards in the world, it can reach a length of up to 1.5m (5ft) long and weigh up to 13kg (29lbs), although size varies depending on which island the iguana is from. The land iguana is identified by the comparatively low crest across its back.
Like most iguanas, the Galapagos land iguana is primarily herbivorous, with most of its diet consisting of prickly-pear cactuses. Living for over 60 years, females lay their eggs in a sandy burrow and can lay up to 20 eggs in one go. In some regions, the iguana shares a symbiotic relationship with native birds that remove parasites from its skin. Like many island animals, the iguana is threatened by human hunting and the introduction of feral animals, but recovery efforts have restored populations to islands where they were previously wiped out.

Trivia[]
Although consistently described as the Galapagos land iguana in scenario texts, the Saurian more closely resembles the Marine Iguana.
